Instead of trying in vain to tie wires together, you get use a breadboard.

If you want to connect Wire A and Wire B, all you need to do is plug both of them into Row 1 and voila! They’re connected.

If you peeked inside of your breadboard, you’d see a lot of little strips of metal doing the actual connecting.

There are also things called rails, or power rails. They don’t automatically come with power on them, though! Since you use power all of the time all over your board, they provide a single long row that you can provide electricity to. If you ever need power or a ground - just plug it into those rows.
